I did manage to wash the bikes a bit, clean and lube the chains on the Blue and the Croll.

I just jumped on the Blue and hit my course for three laps, two close to race pace, then did a couple laps over on the one Curtis laid out, one of those as full speed.  

I was riding at the edge of control and it was fast, and it felt awesome. Different than 2010, and quite a remarkably better start.  Instead of losing the car, I won a couple pair of high zoot wheels.  one set of wheels carried me through a summer of TTs and a handful of crits, the other through a season of CX.

Trip wound up an extra 20+ miles or so when I found out that the driver wasn't where I was driving to, but that sorted itself out and i managed to do a much needed grocery run while out.

Pretty spectacular sky.  Would have been amazing to grab a shot with the lighthouse in the foreground but, nope, besides, we've all seen that a few times before (here).

No matter how many times I see this trailer, it gets me pumped.  I've borrowed the DVD from friends but one of these days I may just have to get a copy of my own so I can watch the whole thing.

The ride to work was great. 56 degrees and fog. No rain, not too cold.  Wore my long sleeve jersey, a sleeveless baselayer, bib shorts and knee warmers.  Regular shoes.

The ride home?

Well, pretty much no matter what I wore it was going to suck.

45 degrees and pouring rain.  With lots of standing water.

There was a dump truck making the run from one end of the bike path to the other (moving soil from the north side to the south maybe?) and we wound up hitting about 30 mph at the same time after the Hospital coming down the Parkway.

For me, I had a great race on Saturday.  That course amplified my strengths and didn't expose my weaknesses too much.  Sunday, more or less the opposite.  But it really wasn't the course as much as other things.

It is a great venue. Rear fender.  Not knowing how many puddles were out there I always like to toss my Planet Bike Flipper Rear in the car to keep the ass dry while doing pre-rides. But I forgot it.  Didn't matter, only one real puddle and there was a somewhat dry line for pre-ride.

Felt great racing.  Was actually racing until Whitey dropped the hammer on the last lap in the twisties to make sure I wasn't anywhere near him on the power sections.  And it worked. I'm honestly not super happy about it. The dark bar on there is a charging artifact that I don't want to remove via post processing.
